Could you explain what USDai is for those who might not know? What are its core mission and values?
USD.AI is a decentralized credit protocol that connects traditional yield markets with AI infrastructure by issuing stable, on-chain dollars backed by real collateral. USDai is the base stablecoin, fully backed 1:1 with U.S. Treasuries and designed to hold a tight dollar peg with no yield exposure, serving as the system’s foundation for stability and liquidity. sUSDai, its yield-bearing counterpart, is used within the protocol to finance GPU-backed loans and other productive assets, giving holders exposure to real-world AI compute financing returns while maintaining full transparency and on-chain verifiability.
What inspired USDai to build this product and enter the space? What was the opportunity here?
AI infrastructure is growing faster than traditional financing can support. At the same time, billions of stablecoins sit idle on-chain, disconnected from real productivity. We saw an opportunity to create a stable asset that helps finance compute operations while maintaining full on-chain transparency and liquidity. USDai was built to channel the efficiency of crypto markets toward a foundational need, more accessible, verifiable infrastructure for AI.
What were the main issues you faced when considering building the product?
The two biggest challenges in building a stablecoin are solvency and liquidity. For solvency, USD.AI addresses this by tokenizing GPU collateral through CALIBER, a framework that turns physical compute assets into verifiable, on-chain warehouse receipts governed under UCC law, ensuring every liability is backed by real, auditable hardware. For liquidity, the protocol introduces QEV (Queue Extractable Value), an on-chain redemption mechanism that dynamically manages flows in and out of the system, allowing orderly redemptions without liquidity crunches or depegs. Together, CALIBER and QEV create a stablecoin architecture where real-world solvency meets deep on-chain liquidity.
What benefits has the USDai team experienced by working with M0?
M0 offers a modular and transparent base layer for stablecoin issuance. By leveraging M0’s open infrastructure, USDai benefits from standardized on-chain accounting, redemption transparency, and native interoperability with other assets built on the same foundation. It lets us focus on our own specialization, connecting stable value to AI infrastructure, without rebuilding the underlying stablecoin framework ourselves.
What prompted your decision to partner with M0?
We share the same philosophy around stable value as public infrastructure. M0’s approach, treating stablecoin issuance as a programmable layer rather than a closed product, aligns directly with how we think about modular finance. Their architecture gives us the flexibility to evolve USDai’s mechanics while maintaining compatibility with an ecosystem of stable, interoperable assets.
What are the plans for USDai in terms of use cases and applications?
Our focus is on deepening USDai’s role within the AI economy. In the near term, that means integrations across DeFi protocols, stable yield markets, and infrastructure partners that handle real compute workloads. Long term, we see USDai becoming a trusted medium of exchange and settlement for participants in AI infrastructure, stable, composable, and grounded in verifiable production.
About USDai
Through its USDai and sUSDai dollar offerings, USD.AI is the stablecoin scaling AI infrastructure, providing asset-backed loans to the long tail of AI builders. Using GPU hardware as collateral, USD.AI’s programmatic lending platform delivers fast, transparent, and scalable financing without the complexity of traditional credit markets. By combining DeFi principles with institutional-grade risk management, USD.AI enables AI companies of all sizes to access the capital they need to deploy and expand compute capacity. The protocol was developed by Permian Labs, Inc, a Delaware corporation.
