- What inspired Startale to build Startale USD (USDSC) and enter the stablecoin space? What was the opportunity here?
A digital dollar is a foundational component of any onchain ecosystem.
As Startale App and Soneium continued to grow, we saw a clear need for a stable, transparent, and globally usable onchain currency that could support remittances, commerce, and everyday transactions at scale.
Startale USD (USDSC) is built natively for the Soneium ecosystem, ensuring deep integration across payments, swaps, and applications from day one. At the same time, it is designed to expand to other ecosystems, giving users and developers a stable currency that works consistently across multiple networks.
Startale USD fills that gap by providing a stablecoin purpose-built for global use cases and fully aligned with Startale’s long-term product vision.
- What were the main issues you faced when considering building a stablecoin?
Stablecoins require institutional-grade reserve management, transparency, and strong alignment with global regulatory expectations.
Building this foundation internally would demand significant operational capacity and ongoing oversight.
Instead of recreating this infrastructure from scratch, we looked for a partner whose architecture already met these requirements and allowed us to focus on product design, distribution, and user experience.
This led us to collaborate with M0.

- What are the plans for Startale USD in terms of use cases and applications?
Startale USD (USDSC) is designed to become the default currency across the Startale App and the stable value that powers onchain economy and activity throughout the wider Soneium ecosystem.
As an institutional-grade digital dollar native to Soneium, Startale USD provides a reliable medium of exchange for users and developers. It will integrate deeply across applications built on Soneium and, over time, expand into additional ecosystems as our infrastructure evolves.
Depositing Startale USD within the Startale App also creates reward generation, allowing users to earn rewards on their assets while maintaining exposure to a fully backed, transparent digital dollar. Ultimately, Startale USD will serve as a core settlement asset across both consumer and institutional use cases, enabling efficient value transfer and supporting the next generation of onchain financial services.
